Position Title: Mental Health America of Licking County Suicide Prevention Coordinator
 
Position Reports to: Executive Director
 
Purpose of the Job: To provide suicide prevention education and support to residents of Licking County.
 

Essential Job Functions:

• Coordinate and provide classroom and community suicide prevention presentations
• Cofacilitate the Licking County Suicide Prevention Coalition
• Facilitate the Local Outreach to Survivors of Suicide (LOSS) Team
• Facilitate Survivors After Suicide Loss Support Group
• Administer depression screenings and provide referrals to community resources as needed
• Coordinate annual Suicide Prevention Walk and Candlelight Vigil event and other events as needed
• Assist with program’s fundraiser(s)
• Maintain records of program statistics
• Communicate clearly to students and school staff, other Mental Health America staff and community members
• Work toward Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist or Assistant certification
• Work flexible hours on occasion including evenings and weekends
• Maintain cultural competence in service delivery
• Accept other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and Development Manager/Program Liaison

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, minimum of Associate Degree in social services, education or related field
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Minimum of two years’ experience with in-person and virtual facilitation of various group sizes
• Good organizational skills
• Knowledge of suicide prevention best practices
• Knowledge of community resources
• Must be trustworthy with confidential materials and information
• Ability to relate to individuals of all ages, cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic status
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint required
