PRESCHOOL HEALTH & SAFETY MONITOR - PART-TIME

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or a certification of high school equivalency.  A two-year Associates degree is preferred.
  • Hold a valid State of Ohio educational aide permit and paraprofessional license.
  • Meet all of the Highly Qualified requirements for the specific assignment.
  • Successfully complete and pass a BCI and FBI check.
  • Obtain and maintain certification/license/training  required by the State of Ohio, including but not inclusive, for Recognition and Prevention of Communicable Disease, Recognition and Prevention of Child Abuse, First Aid, and Child Development.
  • Obtain and maintain required courses and/or approved hours to meet Step Up To Quality rating requirements.
 
JOB GOAL:  The major role of the Preschool Health/Safety Aide is to help assure the health, safety and needs of an individual student and/or groups of students; assist in the effective implementation of programs, therapies and services to meet the needs of assigned students
 
REPORTS TO/EVALUATED BY:  Special Programs Director/Building Principal/PS Teacher
RESPONSIBILITIES:           
  • Assist in the implementation of plans (Individual Education Plan, Individual Behavior Plan, Individual Health Plan, Other) to meet the physical, medical, safety, social-emotional-behavioral, and educational needs of assigned student(s) provided through direct, and indirect activities/tasks/programs.
  • Provide direct and indirect instruction with assigned student(s), under the guidance of the Intervention Specialist and/or Therapist(s).
  • Confer with Intervention Specialist and Therapist(s) to provide extended activities to generalize skills.
  • Collect documentation on student progress and response to activities and interventions.  Provide data and feedback to Intervention Specialist and/or Therapist(s). Observe students for signs of distress, regression, response, and/or improvement; document and report either/both.
  • Provide eating/feeding assistance to students.
  • Assist in toilet training programs and with the toileting needs of students.
  • Assist in implementation of classroom social-behavior programs and in management of classroom/student behavior.
  • Respond to emergencies such as injuries, medical issues, transporting student(s) to safe location.
  • Assist in supervision of students, within and outside the preschool, to and from the classroom and/or on field trips (i.e. getting on and off school busses, within school buildings, on playground, and other areas as needed).         
  • Assist in the preparation, delivery, and cleanup of meals, drinks, and snacks.
  • Disinfect classroom surfaces, educational materials, equipment, and supplies and individual student equipment, furniture and materials. Assure properly storage and use of approved cleaners and disinfectants, supplies and materials.
  • Clean, mop, vacuum, sweep rooms and remove trash as needed and as assigned. Perform other housekeeping and cleaning tasks as assigned.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties as requested by the teacher. 
  • Compiles and maintains records: inventory, attendance, etc.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student, parent, and/or staff information.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Preschool Director, Preschool Teacher, or Building Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • 4 days a week (Monday – Thursday) / 3.25 hours/day
  • Extra hours for training possible
  • Salary as per negotiated agreement (LACE)
