CUSTODIAN

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A High School diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.
  2. Experience in custodial and maintenance.
  3. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  4. A proficiency in general repair, painting, cleaning and operating cleaning equipment.
  5. A working knowledge of heating, air conditioning and ventilating systems.
  6. A neat appearance.
  7. An ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
  8. Successfully complete and pass a BCII and FBI check.
JOB GOAL:     To assist in maintaining the building and grounds in a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient operating manner.
 
REPORTS TO/EVALUATED BY:  Director of Maintenance and Facilities / Building Principal
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Conduct an on-going program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
  2. Responsible for all maintenance and repair work while maintaining a high standard of safety.
  3. Maintain on a regular schedule all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing.
  4. Keep all floors and corridors in a clean and attractive condition.
  5. Maintain an inventory and recommend the purchase of supplies, tools and equipment to the Director of Maintenance Services.
  6. Seasonal duties such as snow removal, shovel, salt, weed eat and mow as needed.
  7. Strive constantly to promote the safety, health and comfort of the students and staff.
  8. Scrub, mop and disinfect restroom and cafeteria area floors daily.
  9. Establish schedules for routine safety inspections of playground equipment, bleachers, steps, halls, handrails and all parts of the building and grounds.
  10. Keep Principal and Director of Maintenance Services informed of all maintenance concerns.
  11. Clean sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
  12. Check routinely for events scheduled for the building.
  13. Any other duties as assigned by the building Principal or Director of Maintenance Services.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • 8  hours daily excluding lunch break
  • 260 day contract
  • Start date – July 1, 2025
  • Salary as per negotiated agreement (LACE)
