Licking County Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Excellence at Annual Gala
Newark, Ohio - More than 200 business and community leaders gathered at the Licking County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Gala to celebrate another year of growth, innovation, and leadership in Licking County. The evening highlighted the Chamber’s achievements, honored outstanding community members, and recognized businesses making a lasting impact on the region.
The gala featured a review of the Chamber’s successes over the past year, including welcoming 98 new members, graduating 29 individuals from the Community Leadership program, hosting 76 events with nearly 8,000 attendees, and launching new initiatives in partnership with Junior Achievement, Young Leaders of Licking County, and business roundtables.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Chamber’s Annual Awards:
Business of the Year – Robertson Construction
With more than 27 years of service and over $1.3 billion in completed projects, Robertson Construction has become one of Central Ohio’s premier construction firms. Their work includes high-profile projects such as the restoration of the Licking County Courthouse and the revitalization of the Newark Arcade. As an employee-owned company with a nationally certified Career Academy, Robertson is recognized not only for excellence in construction but also for investing in its people and the community.
Non-Profit of the Year – Junior Achievement of Central Ohio
Junior Achievement empowers students through hands-on learning in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. In 2024, JA opened a state-of-the-art facility in Newark, expanding access to life-changing programs like BizTown and Finance Park. With more than 30,000 students served annually and 1,500 volunteers engaged, JA is preparing the next generation of leaders and strengthening the local workforce.
Employee of the Year – Dr. Meghan Federer, The Works
Serving as both Assistant Director and Interim Executive Director at The Works, Dr. Federer guided the organization through transition with grace and determination. Known for her servant leadership, strategic vision, and unwavering dedication, she exemplifies what it means to lead with humility and heart. Her impact on both staff and community has set a high standard for excellence.
Young Professional of the Year – Emily Gilliam, 2nd Street Market & The Archive
As the owner of 2nd Street Market and co-founder of The Archive: Bottle Shop & Lounge, Emily has infused downtown Newark with energy and creativity. Beyond her businesses, she serves as secretary of the Downtown Newark Association, mentors fellow entrepreneurs, and actively contributes to revitalization efforts. Her innovation, community spirit, and dedication make her a driving force in Licking County’s growth.
