Buckeye Valley Family YMCA Launches Community Phase of $4 Million Campaign to Expand West Licking County Campus in Pataskala
The Buckeye Valley Family YMCA has officially launched the public phase
of its Building Connected Communities capital campaign, inviting the community to help
complete a transformational expansion of the West Licking County Family YMCA.
With a campaign goal of $4 million, the YMCA has already secured $3.2 million through
leadership gifts and early campaign support.
The first phase of the project, the expansion of the YMCA's wellness floor, will begin construction
soon and is expected to be completed this fall. The 3,000-square-foot addition will increase
wellness capacity by 40%, provide space for additional fitness equipment, and improve the
overall member experience.
The campaign's next phase includes construction of a new 8,000-square-foot community
gymnasium, with a potential groundbreaking later this year. The facility will create opportunities
for youth and adult sports, basketball, pickleball, camps, clinics, family activities, community
events, and school partnerships.
The expansion comes as western Licking County continues to experience rapid growth while
recreational infrastructure struggles to keep pace. Today, the West Licking County Family YMCA
serves more than 190,000 annual visits, yet the community currently lacks a public indoor
gymnasium. The completed project is expected to increase annual visits to more than 250,000
while creating new opportunities for families of all ages.
"This campaign is about much more than expanding a building," said Adam Shilling, CEO of the
Buckeye Valley Family YMCA. "It's about ensuring our community has the spaces, programs, and
opportunities it needs as West Licking County continues to grow. We are building a YMCA that
will serve families today and for generations to come."
The YMCA is now inviting residents, businesses, and community partners to participate in the
campaign through financial support and by helping share the vision throughout the community.
