Join us for a focused, solutions-oriented Childcare Forum addressing one of Licking County’s most significant workforce needs. This special program - held in place of the Chamber’s bi-monthly Local Leaders event - is coordinated by OhioMeansJobs Licking County, the Licking County Chamber of Commerce, and Grow Licking County.
The forum will begin with welcome remarks from Licking County Commissioner Tim Bubb, followed by Dr. John Berry, President of COTC, sharing how the college is preparing students for careers in early childhood education. Adam Shilling, Executive Director of the Buckeye Valley Family YMCA, will highlight current childcare offerings and opportunities for expansion.
Policy and advocacy updates will be provided by Vanessa Butler, Senior Director Community Relations, Groundwork Ohio, followed by remarks from Kara Wente, Director of the Ohio Department of Children and Youth on statewide initiatives supporting families and providers.
A buffet lunch, courtesy of Licking Memorial Health Systems, will be served before Deborah Grayson of Nationwide Children’s Hospital presents Journey to 5 and the critical role of kindergarten readiness.
The event will conclude with a panel of local business leaders and HR directors, including: Sally Heckman, President of First Federal Savings; Brittany Misner, Community and Economic Development Director, Village of Hebron; Brittany Rodgers, Human Resources Director of Illuminate USA and Olivia Rosenthal, Chief Growth Officer, Backup Care Wellthy who will be discussing employer approaches to childcare benefits, financial support, and innovative workplace solutions.
