We are currently looking to fill the position of Information Security Analyst based at our Newark, OH Headquarters Office. This is a highly technical position that works under the direction of the Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the planning, coordination, and execution of both cyber and physical security of the Cooperative’s computer systems and facilities security access systems. Assist with other department related responsibilities. Ensure all work complies with IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
Nature and Scope of Position (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):
- Support and incorporates the Cooperative’s Mission, Vision and Values in personal and professional behavior and decisions.
- Comply with all Cooperative policies, procedures, goals, and objectives and meets attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Understand, observe, and enforce cooperative safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions to department supervisor and/or safety department personnel.
- Ensure the stability and integrity of in-house electronic access control and monitoring systems which may include firewall, switches, routers, log management, or any other software used in the monitoring of crucial cyber assets associated with the cooperative.
- Manage and recognize potential successful and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through reviews and analysis of relevant event detail and summary information.
- Manage and ensure appropriate end point security is used through the use of software patches, anti-virus software and anti-malware software.
- Perform change management and configuration activities, security control testing, system baseline activities, vulnerability testing and analysis with remediation and network traffic analysis to ensure system reliability and security.
- Monitor cybersecurity logs including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) logs and activity. Prioritize and respond appropriately to alerts generated by automated systems and events. Provide summary of activities to the VP / CIO.
- Maintain positive business relationships with consultants, vendors, professional or government organizations as is necessary to maintain and /or update the Cooperative’s Computer and Telecommunications Systems.
- Assist with department needs such as troubleshooting and resolving needs of end users through help desk tickets and calls. Administer land-based telecommunication and mobile devices and participate in IT related capital projects.
- Develop training materials and policies and procedures, and train users in cybersecurity, information safeguarding and other IT related areas.
- Assist department supervisor and VP / CIO in the development and compliance of all IT related policies and procedures. Recommends policy updates as needed.
- Responsible for the management and compliance of all Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards and requirements. Ensure appropriate standards for security policies, technologies and ongoing processes are in place that protect the payment systems from breaches and theft of cardholder data.
- Implement and manage security, surveillance, and access systems for the cooperative’s physical locations.
- Work with department supervisor and VP / CIO to develop, monitor and maintain appropriate security levels both internally and externally to ensure continued system integrity of all IT systems and applications. Responsible for all other cybersecurity measures for all LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi networks of the cooperative.
- Must be available to work during emergencies and on Saturdays, Sundays, and company-observed holidays to ensure all IT systems are functional.
- Performs other related work in addition to other duties as may be assigned.

- Experience and Education: Bachelor degree in computer science or closely related field with a minimum of five years working experience in an IT role working with information systems security. Possess proficiency and working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite. Extensive experience of TCP/IP, Cisco routing and switching and system patching. Proven experience with Payment Card Industry (PCI) security compliance standards, security log management, firewalls, and VPN appliances. Knowledge of personal computers and PC applications, development software, database and networking technologies desired. Working knowledge in Windows system, e-mail servers, mobile device management and virtualized systems desired.
- Certificates, Licenses and Training: Certified Cisco Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred. An individual in this position may be required to drive a company-owned vehicle at times and therefore is required to maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must have the ability to attend meetings and/or training seminars when requested. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment and professionalism.
- Language and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal / written communication skills. Ability to effectively develop and present written and oral reports to all levels of the Cooperative including Board of Directors. Is a good listener and actively engages in conversations in order to clearly understand others’ message and intent. Is easy to approach and talk to and spends the extra effort to put others at ease.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Thorough understanding of Cooperative’s goals and objectives. Displays high standards of ethical conduct and is widely trusted and viewed as a direct and truthful person. Effectively solves problems and has a realistic vision of the end result. Requires minimal supervision. Utilizes various resources to stay educated about new technology in the IT and utility industry. Pursues everything with energy, drive, and a need to finish. Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Ability to work in a climate-controlled environment with minimal physical exertion. Travels to and from work sites and therefore must have the ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain.
- The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting and/or carrying, twisting/pushing/pulling, kneeling, talking, hearing, visual ability and mental and emotional demands. Requires repetitive motions with hands and fingers such as dialing and keyboarding. Must maintain sufficient strength to lift and carry a variety of equipment such as computer monitors, PCs or other necessary equipment needed to perform essential duties.
- Must be available to work during non-working hours which may include weekends and holidays.
