Join in the fun at Buckeye Lake’s inaugural Bike Safety Rodeo for children ages 5-10 on May 11, 2024 (rain date May 18)! The free event provides an exciting environment for participants to hone their safety skills and learn to make good choices when riding. Children will guide their own bikes through a course especially designed to address specific bike handling and safety issues. Each child will also receive a free fitted helmet, swag bag, wrist snap, as well as food and drink tickets. Participants can also learn about fire safety on board a Buckeye Lake fire truck. 

All participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and pre-registration is required; to register visit bikebuckeyelake.org/kids-bike-safety-rodeo/. The event will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish parking lot, 5133 Walnut Rd., Buckeye Lake. 

The Bike Safety Rodeo is hosted by the volunteer-run organization Bike Buckeye Lake, in collaboration with Fairfield, Licking and Perry County Health Departments and local Fire and Police Departments.

Bike Buckeye Lake is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2015 to foster healthy, vibrant and sustainable communities. The group promotes the creation of safe trails that connect towns and points of interest around Buckeye Lake. The goal is to make walking, running and cycling safe, convenient, and accessible for residents and visitors to the lake.  

In addition to the Bike Safety Rodeo, the group organizes the Christmas Bike Giveaway for local children, and the Tour de Buckeye Lake, a cycling event for riders of all skill levels. Proceeds from the Tour go to support trail development costs around Buckeye Lake relating to, for example, land leases and acquisition, engineers and consultants, safety, grant applications, and maintenance.
