Position Overview:
C-TEC's Secondary Center is seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time Preschool Lead Teacher to assist in our high school Teaching Careers program. The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and engaging educational environment for four-year-old children who attend the preschool program on a part-time basis. The Lead Teacher will plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The Preschool Lead Teacher will also work closely with high school students who have an interest in education and early childhood development. This position provides guidance, mentorship, and authentic classroom experiences that help prepare students for future careers in education.
Location: C-TEC Secondary Center
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (up to 28 hours per week during the high school year)
Reports To: Teaching Careers Instructor / Program Supervisor
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised environment that promotes the health, safety, and well-being of all preschool children.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans, activities, and learning experiences.
- Provide learning experiences that support development in areas including language and literacy, math, physical development, social skills, and social-emotional development.
- Establish positive relationships with children and provide appropriate guidance and support.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
- Observe and monitor children's development and respond appropriately to individual needs.
- Assist high school students in creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities.
- Mentor and guide high school students as they develop skills related to early childhood education.
- Model effective teaching practices, classroom management, communication, and professionalism.
- Provide constructive feedback to high school students regarding their interactions and work with preschool children.
- Supervise and support high school students while they are working in the preschool classroom.
- Collaborate with school staff and families as appropriate to support student success.
- Follow all applicable preschool licensing, health, safety, and supervision requirements.
- Perform additional classroom, program, and administrative duties as assigned.
- Must be able to obtain an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic educational environment.
- Experience working in a preschool, childcare, or early childhood education setting.
- Educational background in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or higher.
- Experience developing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities
